Submissions

little somethings press is currently open for submissions for issue seven, our motherhood anthology. Read below for more details about this special project.

Summer of 2024, we launched issue six, and had big life changes unfold, leading to a hiatus that was important for our personal and creative lives. Our founding editor is now a mother and her muse has just learned to walk. With this, we are ready to return to publishing with something special for all the mamas, and an offering for the community, to be released May 2026.

Submission Information

To submit, email littlesomethingspress@gmail.com your poetry, prose, and art centered on motherhood — the joy and the trauma — by February 7, 2026. Poetry should be under one page, and prose under 500 words. Art should be submitted as a JPEG or PNG file. If you attended one of the Motherhood Anthology Project workshops, please indicate this in your email.

The Motherhood Anthology Project

Revisionary Arts and little somethings press will host a series of three free creative, reflective, and community-building workshops for mothers at the Tempe Public Library. These workshops include writing, visual art, and bookmaking (for more information, visit our Events page). This workshop series will culminate in the publication of a printed, handmade collection of short writings and visual artworks by workshop participants and the community at large. Space will be held in issue seven for workshop participants; however, all are encouraged to submit.

Contributors will receive a small honorarium and a contributor copy as payment for their submissions.

The anthology will be launched at an open-to-the-community event at the Tempe History Museum, featuring readings by published writers and discussions with the visual artists. We are beyond excited to return to the community and see this project unfold.

This project is partially funded by a City of Tempe – Community Arts Grant.

General Information

In each issue, little somethings press publishes pieces of flash fiction, flash memoir, poetry, and visual art. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please let lsp know if your work has been accepted elsewhere.

This small independent press makes everything by hand (with love), so responses may take up to six months.

We work with First North American Serial Rights. However, all rights revert back to the author upon publication.
